WHAT IS A SHOCK TREATMENT?
A shock treatment is a biological way to clean a septic system. A shock treatment is performed for one of two reasons:
We suggest a moderate or intensive shock treatment in case of clogging of your leaching field. Both the SeptiDrain and the SeptiMax will be used and will allow an optimal treatment of the septic system.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 SHOCK TREATMENT PRODUCTS, SEPTIDRAIN AND SEPTIMAX?

Since SeptiDrain contains a BIOSURFACTANT in addition to the liquid bacteria, it is normally used first in the shock treatment. The biosurfactant allows the bacteria to adhere more easily to the surface to be treated. SeptiDrain can therefore effectively clean perforated drainfield pipes and crushed stone.

The SeptiMax is then added, which is EXTREMELY concentrated in bacteria. Since it is dry bacteria, it must be mixed with water before being discharged to the leaching bed. It is added through the toilet and will travel to the septic tank. The bacteria will then be gradually carried to the leaching field and continue the shock treatment. They will break down the remaining organic matter in the leaching field.
HOW DOES THE SEPTIDRAIN WORK?
Then flush or you can pour it directly into the septic tank. That's all there is to it!
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY LEACHING BED IS CLOGGED?
Clogged leach fields usually show signs of wear and tear. Some examples are:
- Water backs up and overflows where the septic tank covers are located, on the property or in the house.
- The soil is wet, spongy or the vegetation is denser on the surface of the leaching bed.
- The water level is high in the septic tank.
- Discharges (e.g., bath, sink, shower) have difficulty draining. They make "gurgling" sounds.
- There are unpleasant odors inside or outside the residence.
