What is SeptiDrain ?
SeptiDrain is a shock-treatment product for septic installations. It’s formulated with very concentrated enzymes and bacteria. It comes in liquid form and we use it to digest the septic sludge that has accumulated in the drainfield. We employ it in the case of clogging and before starting maintenance with the Septi +.
Its specialty : digesting grease and soaps.
It can be used to clean sumps and wet wells too..
What is a shock-treatment ?
A shock-treatment is a biological way to clean a septic installation. We do a shock-treatment to clean-up before the start of maintenance (by using 1L or 4L of SeptiDrain) as well as to correct a problem in a clogged drainfield (by using 10L or 20L of SeptiDrain).
How does it work?
SeptiDrain is added either by the toilet or directly into the septic tank. The enzymes then digest organic matter found in the pipes of the drainfield, on the filtering sand and on the crushed stone.
How can I know if my drainfield is clogged?
Normally, septic installations show visible signs of wear. Here are some signs :
- Water backs up and overflows around the septic tank cover, on the surrounding ground or in the house.
- The ground is humid, spongy or the vegetation is thicker at the surface of the drainfield.
- The water level is high in the septic tank.
- Drains in the bathtub, sink or shower have difficulty evacuating. They make a ‘‘gurgling’’ sound.
- There is a bad smelling odor inside or outside the house.
